BILAL BASRAI

Bilal Basrai is co-founder & Head of Business Development at SharpScribe, which was founded by experienced healthcare and financial specialists who recognized the inappropriate and inefficient use of the physician skill set for routine documentation tasks.

Bilal’s mission is to help ease the electronic medical record (EMR) documentation demands for physicians. He believes this will not only provide for more satisfied physicians and happier patients, but also generate an immediate ROI for the physician’s practice in the process. Bilal’s philosophy in co-founding SharpScribe is that it provides a “win-win-win” for the physician, patient & scribe (employee).

Prior to co-founding SharpScribe in 2016, Bilal was an investment banker & equity research analyst for over 20 years covering the Healthcare sector and primarily living & working in New York City for various global investment banks. Bilal has been involved in over $4.5 billion worth of transactions in the healthcare sector over his Wall Street career. His finance & healthcare background along with his experience advising many healthcare companies on capital formation, mergers & acquisitions, & strategy played a key role in co-founding and building SharpScribe.

Bilal attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated with a degree in Finance & Economics. Bilal also played on a partial tennis scholarship at the University of Illinois and continues to be an avid tennis player and fan. When away from the office, Bilal loves traveling and he and his wife are also always exploring fun new things to keep their 2 young energetic children entertained.

“I am not averse to electronic records; in fact, they provide me (and my patients) with some great benefits. I can say without hesitation that a scribe has helped me realize improved documentation, a more focused attention to my patients, and the ability to see more patients in a work day. I can’t imagine going back to life without a scribe.” – Thankful Physician
